Portugal voted the best destination in 2021

The renowned Condé Nast Traveler magazine asked its readers to, once again, vote for their favorite countries. Portugal was in 1st place.
Every year, the renowned travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler (CNT) invites its readers to answer a questionnaire to reward the best in the tourism sector in different categories. In 2021, Portugal was ranked 1st in the top 20 of the best destinations in the world , ahead of countries such as New Zealand, Japan, Morocco, Sri Lanka and Italy.
The CNT Reader’s Choice Awards are now in their 34th edition. This time around 800,000 registered readers have shared their experiences in cities, countries, islands, hotels, resorts, spas, cruises, trains, airlines and airports around the world. And Portugal not only won the award for best country in the world. In the list of the best cities in the world , Porto figures in 8th place, as a destination recognized by wine specialists, but also for being the “most creative city in Portugal”. In the list of the best islands in Europe , Madeira occupies the 4th place and the Azores the 12th – in 1st place is Hvar, in Croatia. But there is more.
Quinta da Comporta – Wellness Boutique Resort (14th) in Carvalhal, in Grândola, and Vila Vita Parc (19th) in Alporchinhos, Algarve, are in the top 30 of the best spa destinations . Speaking of southern Portugal, Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort and Tivoli Marina Vilamoura Algarve Resort figure in the list of the best resorts in Europe , in 15th and 18th place respectively.
There are even a top 20 best hotels in Spain and Portugal . The Portuguese São Lourenço do Barrocal, in Monsaraz, Alentejo, is the big winner, followed by a Spanish hotel, the Sant Francesc Hotel Singular, in Majorca. In Portugal, there are also The Yeatman Hotel (6th place) and the Hotel Infante Sagres (11th place), in Porto; the Savoy Palace (8th place) and Belmond Reid’s Palace (12th place), in Madeira; and the Tivoli Palácio de Seteais (13th place), in Sintra.
